How I learned to dress according to my body type – Famous blogger reveals
England fashion blogger Emily Johnston is 1.85 tall, wears number 42 and is considered a trend setter for just that: because she dresses for her body.
“I have a height of 1.85 and I fit perfectly at number 42”, writes the famous style influencer and blogger of Fashion Foie Gras , Emily Johnston. “I finally realized that while I am different from the average woman, no woman is really the same as everyone else.”
Emily’s goal is to inspire and encourage her readers to truly love their bodies through her blog – and she does it very well through clever and creative DIY style tips that prove that yes, style has no size: ” The women I considered style icons for years now never blindly followed the trends. “These women dress for their own unique body type and make trends for the whole world because they did just that: They wore what suits them.”
Indeed, when we think of trend setters like Miroslava Duma for example who has a height of less than 1.55, but thousands of fashionistas copy paste the outfits she wears at fashion weeks or Kim Kardashian who in America is at least considered a style icon just because has loved her curves, Emily’s words take on a new meaning.
“So until I realized all this, I covered my body with huge blouses and baggy jeans, thinking that the clothes could hide my difference. With a height of over 1.80 from my 12, then, no fashion magazine could find me a solution. The day I discovered the joys of showing off your waist with a simple belt, or showing off your long calves and hourglass silhouette with a pencil skirt and high heels to look slimmer, was the day I turned, from steel observer to trend setter. In my office I have three stacks of books that I call “encyclopedias of my style”.
He continues: “From the age of 17, I cut out every outfit I printed on magazines, campaigns and catalogs and pasted them on these books. There are still times when I fool around with them, 15 years after I stopped sticking to new pages. It was from those pages that I learned that I must love these legs, which used to destroy my self-confidence. “I seized the opportunity to be different from the crowd and changed the course of my career to push more women in the same direction.”
“After all, we live in an age where fortunately women have many choices – clothes come in all sizes, in all styles and the sources of inspiration are plentiful.”
“I look forward to wearing the long full skirts and elegant linens of the season – and keep in mind that the line of a garment is the most important of all.” source
